Cochlear Implant

Hallo Expert

Is there gaurantee that a child with cochlear implant will hear and develop speech? My child is four year old and not getting enough help from the hearing aids. We are looking at cochlear implant as the last hope.

Dear Sipho

There are never any guarantees but there are definitely possibilities and potential. You need to go for an cochlear implant evaluation, where the team of professionals will be able to give you a better idea of the possibilities. Also remember that speech therapy and parent's involvement will form an integral part of the process and the possible success. The evaluation process for the benefit of cochlear implants are very involved and will be able to give you a good idea of what can be expected. The outcome will depend on a number of factors

Please feel free to let me know if you need any further information
