Baby`s Ears

Hi Doc-my 1y old baby is busy teething and has for the past 2 days been putting in her fingers inside her ear and shaking it profusely.I can say that it`s seems to be a terrible itch but could also be aching as she moans a bit when she sleeps. We were at the paed last week and there was no sign of an ear infection. Is the something I can use for this to ease the uncomfort?I am currently using Pansoral teething gel and Calpol for the teething. Thanks

Hi Ant

It could be that your baby could have a case of middle ear infection. THere are different stages to these infections and the beginning stages are not always visible through an otoscopic evaluation. Often middle ear infrctions go hand in hand with teathing as well a upper respiratory infections. You can have a middle ear evaluation dane at an audiologist and some paeds can also do this screening test (Tympanometry).

If you need any further infor feel free to contact me through the Widex head office.
