Q.

My son has a smelly discharge coming from his ear

I think it might a hole in his eardrum. This has been going on for a while. Wish their was someway to help him. Since these doctors don't seem to know, then on top of it your supposed to pay for these visits which are no help for the poor guy.

Hello Doreen

I am sorry that he has been battling for a while.

If you have sought the help of GPs with no luck, it may be time to visit an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist who has specialised equipment which would help them to visualise the eardrum very well in order to check if there is a hole or not. Due to the fact that there is a discharge, that may very well be the case.

The ENT may also recommend that your son have ahearing test following your visit to him.

Good luck!
