Headache alert

accreditation

Headaches really do come in different shapes and sizes. The brain is the body’s control centre, and headaches are often an early warning system for any number of ailments.

Some headaches are self-inflicted – such as a pounding hangover brought on by too many alcoholic beverages the night before, or a dull ache caused by from sitting in direct sun without a protective hat or sunglasses. But some headaches arrive unannounced and, like migraines, can stay for days.

The Headache Expert answers questions covering the full spectrum of head pain:

  • children with headaches
  • pain caused by the use of prescribed medication
  • headache powder addiction
  • daily migraines brought on by jaw-clenching at night
  • and one reader who writes in to ask about what causes jaw spasms
