Q.

Missed 4 non-consecutive doses of PEP.

To Whom It May Concern, My doctor put me on PEP as a precautionary measure from a work-related incident. I am on didivir x1/day and aluvia 2 tablets 2x/day. I got confused because in addition to the prescription, my DR gave me some aluvia and didvir to take as prescribed above for the first 3-4 days (one of the two I can't remember). I misread the bottle later on and somehow only took my aluvia tablets once a day instead of twice, leaving somewhere between 2-4 days that I was only taking half the required dose of aluvia. I should mention that for the first 3-4 days of my treatment I took the required doses (because of the extra pills my DR gave me). Other than that I have taken all the pills religiously and have taken my didivir 100% accurately. I suffer from anxiety and ADHD and this has caused me a great deal of stress so I would appreciate some help in that: 1. How many doses are we allowed to miss and in what time frame for the aluvia/didivir combination to not be effective? I.E. do you think I am okay? Thanks in advance I really appreciate it.

You will be fine. The most important thing is that you started PEP Post Exposure Prophylaxis within 72 hours of the incident. The drugs work by preventing HIV from establishing itself within your DNA. You did not skip any doses of PEP at all and that also matters. You will be fine
