More that 365,000 people have been tested for HIV in North West since the launch of an HIV counselling and testing campaign in April 2010, the health department said.
"The province aims to test one million people out of population of at least 3.2 million by the end of the campaign next June," said spokesman Tebogo Lekgethwane.
The province had tested 365,117 since the campaign started, he said.
Campaign to be intensified
He said the campaign would be intensified, with intensive awareness campaigns at taxi ranks, malls and institutions of higher learning.
All public health facilities in the province were offering HIV counselling and testing.
The province had also increased the number of people on antiretrovirals (ARVs) from 83,770 to 95,080.
ARV sites increase
It had also increased the number of sites offering ARV treatment from 31 to 63, another 50 were being assessed for suitability top to offer the service.
The department had also accredited 28 community-based organisations and 90 clinics for its referral programme.
Stable patients were referred to community-based organisations and public facilities for continued HIV and Aids care, management and treatment. (Sapa, September 2010)
