Q.

Negative HIV RNA test

If it’s been a little over a year since possible HIV exposure, and my HIV 1 RNA test came back negative.  Do I need to retest or is this type of exam accurate after that long of exposure? Thank you!

You are negative. No need to re-test. The window period for the HIV 1 RNA test is 9 - 21 days. The virus would have been detected by now had you been infected
