Colds and flu

Q.

Why do I get constant bouts of flu

Hello there folks I have been struggling with my 5th bout of flu/cold since January of this year (2016) Every year since 2009 I have been getting flu at least 3 times a year. The doctors dont exactly know what is going on, and the last doctor I visited suggested it's an allergy. I have been given a prescription nasal spray called Nexomist which I use once a morning. SOME BACKGROUND I am 20 years old, female and in good health. I am somewhat overweight and have lost 10KG since February of this year. I am loosing the weight slowly as I want to keep it off. I went low carb as breads and heavy sugary products make me feel unwell. I do still eat rice and such, however I eat vegetables, meats, still use dairy and hardly eat sugar. As a child I got terrible tonsil infection as soon as I had flu. I have not had tonsil infection since about 14/15. Now a days my flu and colds start with a sore throat, developing into a runny nose, headache, blocked and inflamed ears as well as a cough (sometimes painful in the chest after excessive coughing an other times very itchy cough) Other than this I have NO other medical conditions, or a history of being very sick. I have always been very healthy. I doubt it is an allergy as I have been struggling with flu since 2009. in 2013 I moved 1200KM away to a coastal town. ---- My biggest qualm is that I am a singer and studying opera. I need and use my voice and with flus and colds, I cannot use my voice :( --- Is there an underlying issue... or if it is my immune system. The doctors only prescribe antibiotics which spiral into yeast infections and me ending up for a week in bed which makes me very depressed. - I really am desperate at this point. Medical doctors have not been able to help me. I have been suggested to go to a chiropractor which will be costly for me. - Does anyone have suggestions or a similar problem? Your help and advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi Jenni-Lee

I apologise for only answering now. Somehow my notifications were sent to my spam mail and I only realised this yesterday. I hope that you have had help by now. While I was reading your mail, I realised that you probably have to be tested for glandular fever/Epstein-Barr disease. This can cause repeated illness and infection as you have been describing. I also suggest a very strong immune supplement - you can discuss this with a pharmacist or the personnel at the supplement section in Dischem, I find that they are very knowledgeable. Lastly, you should check that it is not something in your diet causing the symptoms, such as dairy. Good luck with your singing career. PS I do not think a chiropractor will be able to help (they are more focused on the bones and muscles of your body), but maybe a homeopath, if you still cannot find any answers.
