Q.

Diverticulitis and severe chronic infection in the colon

I have asked your advice on numerous occasions and always received a prompt and valuable answer from you. Thank you for being there for all of us. In January after experiencing severe pain in the lower left side again, despite the fact that I also started using Curcumin (turmeric) and ginger tablets, I visited a new doctor who prescribed antibiotics but also recommended that I try to eliminate gluten from my diet, As I was previously on the banting wagon it was not difficult to implement this and I started almost immediately. I could already feel a difference after a week or two and after another two or three weeks I am now for the first time almost completely pain free. Maybe this could also assist other people!

Thank you very much for the encouraging words, Flip!  I am retiring at the end of the month and will also leave this program on my loooong holiday.  I agree that many abdominal symptoms are associated with grains (that includes wheat).  One good example is that the elimination of grains from the diet has the same effect on heartburn as taking a PPI like omeprazole every day.  There is also an entity such as non-celiac celiacs - people who respond to a gluten free diet without positive tests.  It is a very health diet - the gluten free one - and will not harm you at all.  Good luck and regards, E
