Q.

Testiing Insulin Levels

I''ve been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetics a few months ago. The problem that I have is insulin resistance.

The Accu-check machine that you buy in the stores is measuring blood sugar levels according to my knowledge.

Should I regularly test my insulin levels and if I need to, please can you confirm if there is a machine that can do this or what is the best way to test my insulin levels.

Dear Tanya

There isn’t a machine to measure insulin levels, and I wouldn’t measure them. More important is to get your weight down if high, and with this your insulin and glucose levels will improve. Certainly you should measure your glucose levels to know if they are controlled, i.e. fasting readings should be below 6 .
