TEST RESULTS FOR P-GLU (f) AND LIPOGRAM - GOOD OR BAD

Sex: Female
Age: 44
Non-smoker

Results good or bad: (I was fasting)

S-CHOLESTEROL 5.0 mmol/L
S-LDL CHOLESTEROL 3.7 mmol/L
S-HDL CHOLESTEROL 1.1 mmol/L
S-NON HDL CHOLESTEROL 3.9 mmol/L
S-CHOL./HDL RATIO 4.6
S-TRIGLYCERIDE 0.43 mmol/L

P-GLUCOSE fasting 4.5 mmol/L

Was on 40ml Crestor. Have lost 20kg and want to know if I still have to take Crestor and what dosage. Will appreciate your feedback. THANK YOU, Yolande

Dear Yolande
Well done on your weight loss. Regarding your results, the glucose level is normal, but your cholesterol is a problem still. If your LDL is 3.7 on crestor 40mg, then it means that it runs at about 7.4 or higher off of treatment which is a very high level and would fall into the genetically bad group of cholesterol disorders like familial hypercholesterolaemia. This means that you would never be able to stop treatment, no matter what your weight was.
