Several hormonal factors may play a role in your blood glucose levels. It is not only determined by what you eat and drink. These hormonal factors may be the reason for your higher morning glucose or the process of gluconeogenesis that takes place in the liver. Your total daily calorie intake may be too little if this is all that you are eating and this may also precipitate a stress response leading to higher sugar afterwards.
