Healthly snacking options for Diabetic

My father-in-law has type 2 diabetes and has recently stopped smoking. Diabetes already increases your appitite, but with giving up smoking it has increased the urge to snack more. I know high blood and cholesterol goes hand-in-hand with most diabetes cases, so I was looking for healthier snacking options for him.

Any Ideas?

Dear Natasha
Current dietary guidelines for diabetes would suggest using low glycemic index carbohydrates, along with low saturated fat foods, and increased fiber intake. To assist with weight loss, then the focus should be on portion reduction. It is beyond the scope of this forum to give you snacking options, and hence I would suggest a dietician, as they will be able to go over the options in detail, and give you your best advice.
