Diabetic - Disability or not?

Is a diabetic classified as a disabled?

In general, no, as a person with diabetes can have a life similar to people without diabetes. However, if a patient develop serious complications such as blindness due to retinopathy, that will classify as a disability. There are different situations with different rules and as I am not sure why you ask the question it should be discussed with your Health Care Provider or the necessary ruling body.

My guess would be that it would depend on how severe or advanced your complications are, if any. A colleague of mine was recently certified unfit to work as a result of diabetes and was medically boarded. His symptoms were quite severe.
