Dear Senior
Intentional weight loss is good for diabetes on all fronts. The reason why you have lost weight is because you have cut calories along with the reduced sugar and fat, and not from the glucophage. You are still currently carrying too much weight, and further improvement will help the diabetes more. Well done on the weight loss so far.
