Q.

Antagolin for Insulin Resistance

I am pre-diabetic and overweight. I tried Antagolin and lost 3 kgs in the first week, right after that I was constipated for 2 weeks, thereafter I have been semi-constipated and bloated and have terrible colon pains. Sex also hurts me terribly. The only other pill I am on is Melodene and I have been taking that for months with no bad effects. I stopped the Antagolin 3 days ago and am still suffering! Am I the only one to experience this from Antagolin? What should I do? I also have PCOS which is probably why I am pre-diabetic. I''m only 23 and I have been eating healthy and exercising 3 times a week since January without results. That''s why I tried Antagolin.

Dear Melissa L
Antagolin is a substance touted to improve insulin resistance and lower glucose levels but to date has no significant trials to support its use in diabetes prevention or weight loss. In the formal medical community it is not a recognized treatment or is on any of the diabetes guidelines. In view of this I can’t say whether the side-effects mentioned are caused by it or not, but by association it may have caused your symptoms, and would suggest staying off it. Regarding trying to improve insulin resistance, the best way is weight loss, and to improve this you need to look at your total calorie intake and if necessary to reduce it further. To get your best effect on weight loss from exercise will entail about 60-90 minutes daily.

AntaGolin has a low side effect profile. Side effects can be minimised by always taking the tablets with meals and never on an empty stomach, by staying adequately hydrated, by following a healthy diet and by exercising moderately. A free copy of the MNI CAPE meal plan is available on the MNI website. It is a healthy, balanced meal plan formulated to help stabilise blood sugar levels and assist with sustainable weight loss along with AntaGolin and exercise. The CAPE meal plan also provides sufficient amounts of fibre to prevent constipation. AntaGolin can safely be used in combination with Glucophage. AntaGolin is however contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding. AntaGolin is specifically formulated to combat insulin resistance, a contributor towards weight gain, particularly around the stomach area. A waist circumference of more than 88 cm in females, and more than 102 cm in males, indicates that insulin may be present. This is according to the World Health Organisation. Always consult your doctor if you have any concerns and never discontinue the use of any prescription medication unless under the supervision of your doctor. For more product and health information, visit the MNI website at www.mnilifestye.co.za

Just stick to a good diet and exercise. They just promoting this product the way they are to make money. I been losing weight just by eating riding and exercise. Cut out all carbs and sugars and you can get all your carb intake via vegetables. Eat clean, train hard, results will come. no pill can make you lose weight. That is from trying many fat loss pills except antagolin.

I used AntaGolin for 6 months about 18 months ago. I neded to lose weight after my pregnancy. I had put on a lot of weight and as struggling to get rid of it. I was consumed with being a new mum and stopped feeling like anything else. I lost 15kgs on AntaGolin, went from a 36 to a 32. I went back to a size I hadnt seen since my 20s. I had no side effects and more than that it made me get my health on track. I took eating well and exercising seriously for the first time and now a year after stopping the tablets I am still a 32. Worked for me.

I am a 52 year old female. I started using Antagolin yesterday and also started with a suger-free diet. I dont know why but I am feeling ice cold and also very sleepy, dizzy , nauseous and with a headache. My usual clear skin looks like a teenager. Could it possibly be because of the antagolin? I had anestetic last week when my surgeon did a Rhizotomy process on my back.

Regarding the experts reply at the beginning of this post. if you are insulin Resistant - a low calorie diet may not help you at all. Current thinking is that a person needs to watch their carbohydrate intake religiously - an extremely good guide that has had tremendous success with many people who have full blown diabetes 2 , PCOS, Insulin resistance is the PATRICK HOLFORD book Say No to Diabetes. Becoming conscious of the amounts of carbs ( and types in terms of glycaemic Load) you eat and taking on a focussed exercise programme ( not necessarily as much as 60 -90 mins a day) is the best way to go.

Hi I'm using Antagolin only for losing weight, can I use it even if I'm not diabetic or is it only for diabetic people? By using it will that not cause diabetics for me? Please help. I've been using it for 3 weeks now, with no side effects and I've lost 3 Kg's. I want to continue using it but I want to find out whether this is ok or not because I'm not diabetic.

I have never tested my sugar, so cannot confirm if this is the reason for my weight, however there is a history of Diabetes in my family. Can I use this product? Or should I test myself first? I am a sceptic so all the your advice is welcome.

Posted by: Anonymous | 2013-08-16

no it cannot cause diabetes

Posted by: Nancy | 2013-08-14

Hi Lucia I will also like to know if Antagolin can only be used for weight loss As well I am not diabetic etc

Posted by: Lara | 2013-05-14

Hi, I started using Antagolin about 2 weeks ago. I have been going to gym and only using the treadmill. I can report I have dropped almost 3 % Body Fat. And I am very happy. I am a mother of 4 and have been going to gym for years, but it didn't matter how tough my workouts were I would always loose the weight and gain it right back. Antagolin has worked for me. I will post again in another 4 weeks.

I recently puchased Antagolin. But read with some side effects it creates heart problems and palpitations, irritable heart beats. As i suffer from Anxiety attacks will the berbertine or any of the products cause this? I am insulin resistant and have to loose 15 kg. My cholestrol is also very high. I need advise before i proceed as to scared will trigger an attack. I also have chilles tendinites and have to loose the weight due to the inflammation caused. Another problem i cant resolve! No one has been able to help me. But will start with the above concern first

Zack, i have been using antagolin after having been tomseveral dietitians, endocrinologist, appetite suppressants, you name it, i tried it. This product works well with a good energy controlled diet. Also initially cutting out sugar, fats and excess carbs and i lost 6kgs in 2 weeks, the secret is in slowly re-intriducing thse products into your diet again after youve reached yiur goal weight. I have had zero side effects, no palpitations, no headaches (only withdrawal headaches after i stopped sugar intake) and no tummy probems. I am still losing a steady 2kgs a week using antagolin and sticking to my diet! Its not an appetite suppressant and its not a Diabetes drug and its not an anti depressant. It simply helps the body to control excess insulin better in order to encrease your metabolism.

Thank you very much for your advice! I saw a GP and went for a blood test and my body seems to have calmed down since I stopped Antagolin. The GP also recommended weight loss (which I have been working on for months already) so I''ll continue to work on my weight loss :)
