Executive functions

Executive functions is a specific brain function which has to do with the ability to complete tasks according to a plan. It also includes the ability to change the plan according to relevant new information.

Planning and organisation is often affected in the early stages of the illness. The person may struggle to execute complex tasks such as tuning the television set, working the video machine, and planning financial investments. The person may also have difficulty participating in board games and may give up hobbies.
