Anyone facing a possible cancer diagnosis can tell you that it's terrifying.  First come the batteries of tests, some of them very uncomfortable, and then there's the waiting for results. 

Empathic and communicative medical staff can go a long way to relieving the stress during this time, but as blogger Big C writes, this is not always the way it goes.
