Q.

I have a hard painful lump after my mastectomy

Had chemo then mastectomy 2004 , recurrence in same area 2015 (yet no breast left). Had radiation. Then in 2016 developed hard painful lump or nodule by scar tissue with itching and scabbing. Had sonar and MRI still waiting for results which they say can take 3 weeks. Not losing weight, but very very tired and stomach bloated, some headaches and minor wrist and back tinges now and then. Any advice? Thanks

Dear 'Fly Away Birdy', thank you for your question. It is important to know that it is totally impossible to ensure that ALL breast tissue is removed during a mastectomy - that it the reason why there is always a possibility that the cancer may return to the same 'breast'. I, however, trust that you will get good news. Whatever the outcome of the current tests, please follow the advice of your treating physician. I would like to wish you the best for the future!
