Q.

Dark red spots on legs.

Hello there. A few months ago(during summer) I noticed some red spots on my left ankle. It looked similar to mosquito bites, but gradually became very dark. I took it for heat rash because of my socks. Then a while ago, the same thing happened on my right leg, but higher up. This time only one. It started as a very small spot, light pinkish in colour. It gradually grew to the point where it is now about 2cm in diameter and very dark red with an almost purple center. I have very fair skin and rarely goes in the sun.

Dear Pieter, thank you for your enquiry. Anything different on one’s skin must be seen toe, especially when the patches on the skin changes colour. There are a variety of possible skin conditions that could appear as described by you. Skin problems are often very difficult to diagnose and it usually takes a well experienced dermatologist (skin doctor) to make a diagnosis – very often only after  biopsy. I would like to suggest that you consult a dermatologist without delay so that an accurate diagnosis can be made and the correct treatment commenced with (MCH).
