What is chronic bronchitis?

Chronic bronchitis refers to the malfunctioning of the bronchial tubes, causing the patient to have excessive mucus in the lung and the only way to get rid of it is to cough.


Chronic bronchitis refers to inflammation of the bronchi, the large tubes that conduct air in the lung. 

This is characterised by mucous hyper-secretion and airflow obstruction, which clinically results in wheeze and cough with sputum production.
