Hallo Lindie,

When we experience back pain, without an injury, it is allways a good idea to visit our doctor (General Practitioner) first.

Injuries can lead to soft tissue involvement, but pain without injury, can be referred from tumours or diseases.  The doctor will examine all risk factors, and, if indicated, refer you for special tests.  If all tests are negative, you  can relax, and start exercising or visit a physiotherapist for management of your back pain.

All the best,
Susan Grobler

A few weeks ago I fell on my back, with the middle right rib hitting the floor first. I have had two sets of xrays done, but they show no injury. There was a lot of bruising, but this has now healed. I am wearing a corset, which helps. When I sit straight up, there is no pain, but when I move my back, there is pain. I cannot lie down for more than 3 hours, so have to sleep in a chair for the rest of the night. I was thinking that it could b a pinched nerve. Your help would be greatly appreciated..I am a 72 year old male.
