We're proud to announce that Young Mom Support is moving premises. Our monthly meetings will now be held at The Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation Youth Centre in Guinea Fowl Road, Sunnydale.
Our vision and goal remain the same: to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for young moms of all races, religions, socio-economic, educational and family backgrounds to come together and talk about what's important to them - without feeling like the "odd one out".
We hope that by being associated with and organisation such as the DTHF, Young Mom Support will be able to fulfill a very important role in the Centre's offerings to the local youth, as well as attract more of the younger teenage moms who we are currently not reaching, due to lack of resources for travelling, or just lack of confidence to reach out to us. The Centre has the added benefit of being closer to home for the Ocean View and Masiphumelele moms who will now be within walking distance of our meeting place.
The DTHF provides services to youth from the ages of 12 to 22, although our current members who are over this age are still welcome to join our meetings.
We've come a long way - trying to make a difference, however small - the in the lives of young mothers and their children. The future for Young Mom Support and our members looks bright. Thank you to everybody who has supported us so far - we couldn't do it without you.
