SABC Education Baba Indaba in Pretoria

SABC Education Baba Indaba is coming to wow Pretoria in a magnificent new venue!

It is with great pleasure that the organisers of the SABC Education Baba Indaba announce the new venue and dates for this year’s Pretoria show.  Now being held from 28 – 30 May 2010, the expo will be taking place at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.  The Pretoria Show Grounds will be home to a FIFA Fan Park and therefore all other events are prohibited from taking place there during the period of the world cup. As with all of the Baba Indaba shows, the organisers promise only the best and that is why they have sourced the finest venue that will cater to not only the Pretoria market, but also open up an opportunity for those in Midrand and the Eastrand to enjoy this wonderful and inspirational event!

Hot on the heels of a successful show in Durban, moms, dads, parents-to-be and even grandparents can look forward to a visit to South Africa’s favourite baby expo at a great new venue. After five years, it is still bursting at the seams with inspirational ideas, information from expert exhibitors, great bargains and loads of fun for the family. There will be many awesome prizes up for grabs such as a fully paid for family holiday and a ladies lunch at the Pretoria Sheraton Hotel but you must be there to be in line!

Doors open from 09h30 until 17h00 each day and entry is R45.00 at the door for adults, and kids under five gain free access.  Grandparents are admitted free on Friday. Tickets can also be purchased online.  When you purchase your tickets, you don’t just get an affordable entry to a fantastic expo, you also get to make a difference: The Red Cross Children’s Hospital Trust will receive 5% of the income from the ticket sales.

There is already a great line-up of exhibitors which is growing at a rapid pace!  Vitabiotics and Aspen Pharmacare will be there to advise on pregnancy and baby’s health, Pitta Patta soft leather baby shoes will keep your little one stylish and comfortable as they are designed for developing feet and Twinkle Toes Photography has all the info you need to ensure that none of your child’s important moments slip away undocumented!  Whilst enjoying free parenting talks at the Woolworths little world speaker’s corner, mamas and babas can enjoy a free coffee and biscotti, whilst the little ones indulge in the Early Learning Centre toys on offer.  Parmalat will thrill all with their Yumchums and once again mums-to-be can look stylish with the hot fashions from Maternity Lane.

In order to make the show as comfortable and convenient as possible, the Pretoria SABC Education Baba Indaba will have various facilities catering to all possible needs of mom and baby.  Cuddlers changing facilities will be available and are fully-equipped with nappies and other changing products to keep baby comfortable and happy for the duration of your fun-filled day.  There will be private breast-feeding rooms to put mom and little one at ease and the Woolworths Littleworld members will gain free access to Baba Indaba.  Don’t forget Kiddy Tags to ensure that your most precious gift doesn’t go wandering without your knowledge!

SABC Education Baba Indaba is not just about babies, toddlers will love to see the muppets from Takalani Sesame performing daily shows on stage, at 11:00, 12:30 and 15:00. They also get to meet and play with them, learning numeracy, literacy and life-skills knowledge in the process.  This year each child may have a chance of meeting their favourite characters in person and having their special picture taken.

You can make a difference to children throughout our country by donating to the Red Cross Children’s Hospital.  Your monthly contribution is a small sacrifice to you but a big difference in these children’s lives.  Representatives from the hospital will be at the show, taking photos of your precious child while imparting information on how you can help others’ special little ones.

Natalie Naude, SABC Education Baba Indaba show director, says, “2010 is such an exciting year with the FIFA World Cup and the world’s eyes upon us and we’re excited to be part of the fun.  The change in venue adds another dynamic to an already wonderful show and we hope to make the most of the high spirits that are sure to envelope our country during this period!”

Naude concludes, “The SABC Education Baba Indaba gets better each year and we are bursting with energy and enthusiasm in anticipation of this bigger and better Pretoria show!  We hope that our diverse and interesting audience will make a trip to Gallagher Estate to see what our incredible exhibitors have in store this time.  Each year we aim to provide a show that encompasses all that a parent needs under one roof, simplifying the exciting yet often intimidating experience of welcoming a new life into this world.  It is an event that is not to be missed!”
