Marlene Wasserman is the Ageing and sexuality expert. With a B.A. Social Work (Hons), University of the Witwatersrand; MA (Clinical Social Work) cum laude, University of the Orange Free State; Doctorate in Human Sexuality, Institute of Advanced Study in Human Sexuality, San Francisco, USA, Marlene is an internationally accredited Couple & Sex Therapist (AASECT).
In addition, Marlene is a board member of ISSWSH (International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health), a member of BASRT (British Association of Sexual And Relationship Therapy) and Editor and board member of the academic journal Sexual and Relationship Therapy. In 2009, Paris meeting, Marlene was one of the selected co-chairperson for ICSM (International Consultation in Sexual Medicine), the prestigious international body that sets standards of practice and management of sexual medicine.
Marlene is in private practice in Cape Town specializing in couple and sex therapy, and Sexual Medicine. As Dr. Eve she commands a strong media presence through her radio shows and television appearances, and her web site www.dreve.co.za is educational, with safe sexy shopping.
As an academic and educator, Marlene lectures part-time at Medical School, Department O&G, University of Cape Town, is a key opinion leader to pharmaceutical companies, and delivers papers at scientific and public national and international conferences.
Marlene is an award winning columnist and author of Pillowbook, ( Oshun, 2007) Dr Eve Sex Book - A Guide for Young People - Rights, Responsibilities, Rewards (Human and Rousseau 2008). Both these books are in reprint due to their success. In August 2009 she launched Ageing and Sexuality – a 21st century guide to long lasting sensuality (Oshun 2009).
Who is Marlene? A woman, a parent, a partner, a friend, a sexual activist, Marlene is passionate about provoking people into thinking about their relationships and sexuality. Her new role is that of an “Ageing Evangelist” – deeply committed to the sexual rights of ageing people and offering new forums for older people to learn, interact and begin conversations on Ageing and Sexuality.
