Do you take personal hygiene seriously?

Personal hygiene is vitally important to staying healthy, and women need to ensure that during their period they take extra care to ensure cleanliness.

A recent global survey suggests South Africans are particularly bad when it comes to personal hygiene and are in fact ranked as one of the most unclean nations in the world. Personal hygiene is vitally important to staying healthy. South Africans need to be educated on how to keep clean and hygienic in order to fend off diseases. Women, in particular, need to ensure that during their period they take extra care to ensure cleanliness.

You cannot always control your body and as such your menstrual cycle might start at a time when you are unprepared or away from home. In order to stay hygienic it is important to carry your tampons with you to ensure you are always prepared. Remaining clean and sanitised is fundamental to your health.

As a women, remembering these easy tips especially during your time of the month will ensure you stay healthy:

  • Change your tampon at least every 4-6 hours, more frequently if needed, to avoid risk of infection
  • Wear cotton underwear as much as possible - cotton allows your skin to breath better
  • After going to the bathroom, make sure you wipe from front to back to help prevent any infections
  • Don’t spray deodorant onto your vaginal area – deodorant has chemicals in it that can affect the PH levels in that area
  • Keep your vagina clean by washing the outside areas only. The inside parts have their own cleaning system

The Ava tampons tins are ideal for ensuring your tampons stay dry and germ-free when in your handbag, setting them apart from other cardboard encased brands.

“Ensuring personal hygiene is vital. Sanitation is so important and we need to ensure we look after ourselves regardless of what circumstance we find ourselves in. Be prepared and educate yourself as your health is the most important thing,” says Amanda Strydom from Ava Secrets.
