Q.

Very busy 4 year old

Hi

We have a 4 year old son who is extremely busy and has many of the symptoms of ADHD. I have discussed the possibility with our GP who recommended that I wait a year or two before I get him tested as he is still very young.
He is realy driving us crazy over weekends and at night, there is no end to his energy. Is there anything natural that I can give him to just let him calm down a bit?

Thanks

Dear Lisa,

The best advice for his age is to get him involved in sporting type activities where he can appropriately burn his energy. Even instilling a 'no inside until 4pm' rule to ensure he is playing and running outside may help.

Lowering his carbohydrate intake may also help as this gives bursts of energy which it does not seem he needs.

Some natural chamomile aromatherapy oil in his bath at night may start the calming down process before going to bed.

Good luck,
Delia
