Q.

Strattera reply

Thanks Delia.

My son is 6 and he is on Ritalin, the Pediatrician said that he will go over on to Strattera once his weight has picked up (he only weighs 15kg now). Why only from 20kg?

Dear Denise,

As I am not a medical doctor I cannot give you a pharmacological reason. However, as Strattera often results in decreased appetite children are likely to loose weight. If a child is underweight to begin with, or should not loose weight, waiting for the weight to increase is recommended.

I hope this helps? Please speak to your prescribing doctor for more in depth details.

Kind regards,
Delia
