Q.

Signs of ADD/ADHD

Hi there.

Are there any signs to look out for in my 7 month old girl to see if she will have ADD/ADHD.

My brother was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD so it is in the family gene.

Regards....

Dear Sam,

As ADHD has a genetic component, there is a possibility of your daughter being ADHD, but not a certainty.

Seven months is quite young to start looking for difficulties, however, the best option at this stage is to keep a record of all behaviours, sleeping patterns, likes/dislikes etc. This way, should you suspect anything later, you will have a documented history and won't have to scratch your head too much when specialists ask you to think back 5 years.

In the mean time, enjoy your little one and try to instill good, manageable routines.

Kind regards,
Delia
