Remedial therapy

Ryan is ADHD, goes to play therapy, speech therapy, did do remedial therapy for a short bit but totally disliked the teacher - tried someone else but she has now left. He is going to a remedial school fomr next year and will repeat grade 1 BUT

I want to do the remedial therapy myself - I was a pre school teacher years ago,so have some experience in teaching - pls give me advice where can i get teaching material or a guide line so I can give my son the best therapy possible on a daily basis.

I have tried searching internet but not finding man guidelines just odd tasks. can you advise or refer me to someone in Port Elizabeth or on your forum? Thanks

Dear SHelley,

You can try the following sites:

Although they do not provide a skills breakdown per age, you can see what is expected of a child in each grade. You can use this as a guide as to what your son can cope with at the moment and where you are aiming to get to. In general, you can consider a task mastered when he can do it independently over three consecutive days.

If you need any more assistance with activities you are welcome to contact me via Email.

Good luck,
