How do i know that my son has ADHD. I took him to an occupational therapist two years back but the occupational therapist said he was fine, she also took an iq test and said it was above average, but we getting several complaints from his school, that he is unattentive, he refuses to listen in class and that he' d rather play than learn. Make no mistake, he is very intelligent but he seems to have a " don' t care attitude"  about school. What do i do.

Dear Ruby,
An Occupational Therapist cannot diagnose ADD/ADHD; it is preferable to obtain a diagnosis from an educational psychologist or if this is not possible, from a neurologist. Most children with ADHD are very intelligent, they just need some assistance to show it. The root cause for his behaviour must be identified, whether it be ADHD or something else, to prevent teachers looking unfavourably upon him.
Kind regards,

Take him to a educational psychologist. They will do the best tests. You dont mention how old your son is. Maybe he is bored in class.
