Dear Delores,
There is another mainstream medication called Strattera, unlike Ritalin and Concerta it is not a stimulant and sometimes does not cause the side effects you have mentioned with the other two medications. There are also natural supplements on the market including Eye-Q, Biostrath and ADDvance; often Omega 3 and 6 supplements are helpful. The most important place to start would be your daughter's diet, limiting sugars and preservatives being the most important. For more information please visit www.adhasa.co.za.

My son has been on Ritalin since he was 6 and over the last three years has been put on 54mg of Concerta as he is full blown ADHD. What concerns me is that he is now 18 and is very into bodybuilding, should he be taking supplements with this medication??

My 12 year daughter was on concerta which made her depressed, moody and she did not eat well. We changed her to strattera the moods swings were better but she still seems to be depressed. She feels that both these medicines take away the happy child she is. What other medicine can I use?

my 7yr old was on a 7 day trial of ritalin then concerta. he too was extremely emotional. his behaviour eratic.i stopped it immediatley. this was last year. he barely scaped to grade 2. he has now started ritalin 10mg and is quite effective. no emotional issues. very healthy appetite. however he talks a lot which isnt too bad.
Biostrath and Flax seed seem to work well however not 100%.

My son was on both ritalin and concerta and is currently on strattera which is proving to be very effective for him.
