Q.

Learning disabilities

I would like to have my 9year old daughter in grade 3 assessed, she is battling with school work especially with maths. Which specialist should i take her to? She is already at a school for a supportive education and they are very few in the class. Has difficulty following verbal instruction ,Often repeats the same question ,Difficulty remembering what is heard
Irritated by extraneous noise .Cannot visualise things mentally
Loses track of time Lacks understanding of complex words

Dear Pumpkin,
The difficulties you are explaining sound to be those related to processing and/or sensory integration difficulties. An educational psychologist is the best place to start; your GP or someone at the school should be able to refer you to someone in your area.
