Q.

Is it the answer

My son has started attending a remedial school as he was assessed and found to be behind in some areas, both of his schools say that he is very impulsive - i also find this at home. My ex husbands mother (my sons granny) suffers from paranoia schitzo ... is it possible that he could have inherited this - or do you think that this could be part of the ADD - would Ritalin help?

Thanks

Wendy

Dear Wendy,
Both options are possible. Ritalin benefits 70% of children. You do not mention the age of your son; onset of schizophrenia usually begins in adolescence, however, this is not a hard and fast rule. I would suggest having your son evaluated to determine the root cause of his impulsivity. Your GP will be able to refer you a medical professional in your area.
Best wishes,
Delia
