Is ADHD a possiblity?

My son is 4 years old and has been on Risperdal 0.5mg (night only) for almost 2 years now. In the beginning we noticed a big change in him, especially because he was on 15ml Epilim which I stopped on my own as my son seemed to be a "  zombie"  . The 0.5mg Riseprdal was working great until recently. Our Paediatrician has now changed his Risperdal to 0.75mg (night only) but he is still "  very busy"  we have asked him if he does have ADHD but says no. I'  ve been told that Concerta would be better for him but cannot find any information on that medication.
My son'  s eating habits are terrible, there are some nights that he eats nothing, he will not eat what we eat, he actually makes himself sick and vomits. We are at our whits ends, he continuosly cries and moans ect....... when he doesnt get his own way, we dont know what more to do, if he was'  nt on Risperdal he would be awake until 4/5am in the mornings at least now he falls asleep by 10pm if we are lucky and this is with the Risperdal. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

Dear Odette,
Fussy eating, poor sleeping habits and irritability are not quite enough to determine whether it is ADHD or not; perhaps a more in depth discussion with your paediatrician would be beneficial to get his medical opinion on why he believes it is not ADHD and possibly look into another diagnosis; he may also explain that this is just part and parcel of your son's diagnosis. Another option may be to get a second opinion - ADHASA ( will be able to provide you with the names of doctors in your area who specialise in ADHD. You will need a prescription for Concerta, which will not be available without a relevant diagnosis. Concerta is sometimes prescribed in place of Ritalin as it appears to have fewer and less dramatic side effects.
I wish I could be of more help.
Kind regards,
