Q.

Adult ADHD

Hi, I am 39 yrs old and the mother of 2 boys aged 7 and 9 - one ADHD the other ADD. I read the article on Carte Blanche, I am very well organized at home and work - sometimes too much. Strickt routines for everything etc, though I can''t do " nothing" , ie. read a book, watch TV or just sit still. I do overreact emotionally. Have been divorced twice, engaged now. a couple of other things also made me wonder, could it be possible that the kids got ADHD / ADD from me?

We are thinking of having blood tests done in order to find out more.

Thanks for your time!

Dear Vicki,

There is research to suggest ADHD has a genetic component. Ultimately the decision to have the blood tests rests with you; please ensure you are prepared for the outcome, whatever it may be. These results will not change anything.

Best wishes,
Delia
