Q.

Adult ADD

I strongly suspect that I am suffering from adult ADD. However, I have mistaken it for depression, and asked my GP for anti-depressants. I am currently on Lexamil, and hating it! It is making me dizzy, unhappy and I am totally unable to concentrate, which is making my job hell. What treatment is available for this condition?

Dear Ollie,

There are medications available for ADHD, however, you would need to be formally diagnosed by a psychologist, psychiatrist or neurologist.

Please ask your GP for a referral to one of the above mentioned specialists as self-diagnosing can lead to unnecessary medications being taken.

Kind regards,
Delia

Try Dr Pierre Nel. He is the Medical advisor for Jansen Cilag, who makes Concerta which is used to treat ADHD. Look him up in the phone book or phone Vista Clinic. He changed my life
