Q.

ADD

My son is 6yrs, Grade 1 was born at 32 weeks, 1,8kg.Its difficult to get him to dress or eat without telling him twice. He can read well now and can write but needs a push with Maths/bonds, he can do the sums, but then needs someone to keep on saying " next, next"  as a result he is always last in class. Teacher has recommended a specialist, he is currently on OT and i''m giving him Eye Q(2 capsules) for a year now. The specialist can only see him in late Sep, teacher already talking about possibility of him repeating grade 1 if no change. Today i bought ADDVance, maybe it is better than Eye Q or should i rather try Bio- strath, what can i do in the mean time while waiting for A.P with specialist? He is currently on school holidays till Sep, i was thinking of giving extra lessons in sums, 30 minutes per day, maybe that will help?
Regards, frustrated Mum

Dear Frustrated Mum,

Doing some extra work in the areas your son battles with is a fantastic idea; I urge you to be prepared for the 'lesson' though so that he understands exactly what is expected of him. If possible, try to make it as fun as possible - there are plenty of games available on the net - rather than providing the same dry lesson he gets at school. If you have his buy in from the start he will get more out of each session.

Fortunately September is not too far away (I know it seems an eternity in this situation); let the school know you have made the appointment and to stop making comments in the meantime as there is nothing to be done until you have the results.

In terms of the Biostrath, Eye-Q, ADDvance question I cannot give you a definitive answer as each child will react differently. All of them have Omegas in them which is what aids the concentration.

Best of luck,
Delia

Unfortunately most of the time the gimics of Eye-Q ect only work for some and in most cases you have to follow a specific diet for it to work, in other words, ADDvance on its own will not work, there is another product which is available at health stores, but it is quite expensive called Mindset, you should use a combination of ADDvance, mindset, biostrath for at least 1 month to 3 months before you might see a difference, if it work for your kid then carry on, else you waste your money, the special diet is important, cut out msn gluten products, in other words bread, any thing made out of flour, diary milk, cheese. I have tried it, it was not possible to keep the diet and gave up on it. Oh and reduce his sweet intake, in other words sugar alternatives.
