Q.

When should you increase the concerta dosage

My son will be 12 this year and currently on 54mg of concerta per day. He also takes 0.5mg of Risnia in the evening. Last year was consistent through out the school year with no real improvement in marks - and it seems to be working off quicker than before so i wanted to find out recommendations when to consider increasing?

Changing the dose, or adding on short-acting methylphenidate, should be according to clinical need, efficacy and tolerability - not according to age. We do use weight as a rough guideline. Please consult his psychiatrist/pediatrician to discuss a dose/treatment adjustment.
