4 year old on risperdal

Hi, My 4 year old has been giving myself and his teachers at crech one major problem one after the other since he started walking at 11 months. That was the first time I had to go and see the headmaster because he is extremely agressive against his playmates and even his teachers. This year he took a knife to school, hits and kicks his teachers and even spit at them. I tried a child psychologist but the one we took him to never gave us any report on what we can do to help him. Since his been on the medicine prescribed by the pediatrician he is a lot better at school even though as normal kids would, he and his sister does not get along well. But he still does not sleep through the night. I constantly sleep in the tv room because he is scared of his room and wakes up 3 times a night hungry of thirsty. Even if he sleeps through he tends to cry out in his sleep. How can I help him get over this fear.

Dear Charlotte,
I wonder if your son was having these difficulties with sleep prior to taking the Risperdal? Risperdal can make one more sensitive to temperature changes which may be causing your son discomfort in the night. It is also usual for children on Risperdal to drink more as the body is more suscestible to dehydration. Has he told you he is afraid at night? When he cries out is he asleep or semi awake? If this sleep pattern began after starting him on Risperdal, it would be beneficial to speak to his paediatrician about the dosage. If it is an ongoing symptom, also speak to his paediatrician as there may be an underlying cause. I wish I could be of more help.
All the best,

Good day Charlotte.
My son was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of four. He also had sleeping problems - the whole crying thing in the nights. We are christians and it was clear to us that there was something bothering him at night - something demonic. Most people doesn' t believe in this.... We got a priest and ourselve to pray in the room and demanded whatever it was to go away, we blessed the room and always keep the bible open on psalm 91 - Protection from the Holy Spirit. My son never had that problem ever again. Most children has he ability to sense or see things we can' t and that' s why we as adults don' t believe in it. I' m not saying it is, but I know the frustration of a child behaving like that, it' s just an option. All the best and God bless your family and you!
