Former President FW De Klerk was recently diagnosed with colorectal cancer, and underwent surgery to have a tumour removed from the upper part of his colon.
The FW de Klerk Foundation said in a statement: "The operation was a success and there were no signs that the tumour had spread. "Mr De Klerk is recuperating in the intensive care unit of the Medi-Clinic."
