Give blood, lose weight

There are many reasons to give blood, not least of all the ability to save the lives of complete strangers just by sitting in a chair.

What might surprise you, though, is how good for you donating blood is. It significantly reduces your chance of cancer for life, even though it only takes 48 hours to completely replace the lost blood cells.

Even better, giving blood burns calories.  A LOT of calories. One session of donating can burn up to 650 calories, the same as 45 minutes of running or a third of a woman’s recommended daily intake.

This is why you shouldn’t think of giving blood as a chore, but rather as really, really effective exercise.
