Public irritations - what our users say

All of us somehow enter the public environment at some point. Whether it’s at the bank, supermarket, airport we are bound to get irritated by someone who doesn’t respect the public domain.

We asked our Health24 users what irritates them the most. This is what they had to say:

Matlhaba Ledwaba:  When someone stops suddenly to converse with another right in the middle of the street, and you get this 'who do you think you are look' when asking them politely to make way.

Susan Tashiya:  People who are so well dressed up, but discard any leftover of what they were eating at anywhere else beside a bin, that may just be few meters away. Then they demand cleanliness from somebody else.

Kenneth Mthethwa: Chewing a gum like someone clapping their hands.

Rosemary Pluke: When you're walking to the bus stop after a long and  tiring day's work when you are confronted with either a " pssssst" coming from a moving taxi or a "hello gor..jus"(obviously toothless) that get's my blood pressure rising!

Rianna Wentzel:  What annoys me is when I’m sitting  on the train (after a long, hard day at the office) waiting for it to leave the station  and the same guy (everyday) gets on begging for money for the night shelter.

Not only does it irk me to know that he got past the barriers where everyone needs to show tickets, but he smells like he’s been dunked in a bucket of offal and urine and left  out to dry (yes, that’s how he smells!)  It’s disgusting – and there are those who will actually help him out (not like a night shelter will let you leave without you at least having a bath and handing you a change of clothing).

Thabo: What really annoys me is seeing someone in a restaurant, of all places, digging their nose so freely, not bothered who is looking or where they are. My son said "sis" daddy look at that man he is digging his nose. Even my 5-year-old knows its improper.

What do people do in public places that annoys you? Send us your list and you could be published on Health24.
