Take action:

- Don't try to manipulate your cuticles – the cuticles are the nails' natural barriers to germs, so it's important not to damage them

-Limit professional manicures, frequent exposure to the hard chemicals often used could damage your nails

- Avoid rough emery boards, these may cause small chips that could lead to tears

- Change your shampoo – if you're using a product to treat oily hair, it may be stripping your nails of natural oils too

- And avoid artificial nails – these may increase your risk for fungal infections.
