One would never think it, but elderly dogs can become quite a handful. Here are a few tips on keeping your elderly dog in good shape.

Take action:
Take your pet for regular health check-ups – dogs tend to be more vulnerable to illness when they are older; change your dog’s diet to one which is specially formulated for elderly pets – this will strengthen your dog’s immune system and enable him/her to grow even older; joint problems and hip dysplasia are common in older pets – observe if your pet walks with a limp and see if they are experiencing pain when moving; check your dog’s breath – oral disease is one of the most common conditions in dogs and can lead to other serious conditions in the critical organs such as the heart and kidneys.
