Add some spice to your life

Add a bit of spice to your life. According to American experts, herbs and spices can help you maintain a healthy weight and can thwart certain cancers. These ingredients can also lower blood pressure, control blood sugar and improve heart health.

Take action:
Replace salt with herbs – for instance, basil and oregano can bring out the natural flavours of certain Italian dishes; use lots of fresh garlic – this herb can lower blood pressure and cholesterol; add rosemary, a potent antioxidant, to potatoes or lamb; fight cancer with curry – curcumin has been shown to protect the colon against cancer; and add cinnamon, mixed spice and nutmeg to sweet snacks instead of sugar.
