The penis is composed of paired erectile bodies (corpora cavernosa). The interior of the corpus caverosum contains vascular spaces that consist of connective tissue and corporal smooth muscle.
The fibrous tissue surrounding the outer covering of the corpus cavernosum is the tunica albuginea. The longest part of the penis is the shaft, at the end of which is the head, or glans, which allows for urination and ejaculation through the meatus.
