Navorsing het 'n sterker verband gevind tussen velkanker en die blootstelling van UVA in sonlig as voorheen bevind. Dit het gelei tot die opgradering van die internasionale standaarde vir sonbeskerming. Teen April 2013, sal alle sonbeskermmiddels verkoop word in Suid-Afrika. Hulle sal moet voldoen aan alle standaarde en sal ‘n nuwe KANSA SonSlim Choice Seal kaart hé.
