Fight back for Rhino Day

World rhino population has fallen by over 90% since the 1970s. On World Rhino Day, Saturday 22 September, fight back by supporting reputable rhino conservation projects.

Beware fly-by-night “charities” claiming to raise funds to fight rhino poaching; ensure your input really helps the cause. Some good ideas for World Rhino Day:

  • Buy the new Woolworths Rhino Bag. This reusable shopping bag (another environmental plus) costs R30, R10 of which goes to the Wildlife ACT Fund to support  their work implementing WWF-SA’s Black Rhino Range Expansion Project. Each bag bought gives you a chance to win a 4-night stay for 2 people at &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve.
  • Join the country-wide Rhino Run, an event organised by trail running enthusiasts, Thandi Rhino Injection Fund, Endangered Wildlife Trust, and MyPlanet Rhino Fund.
  •  Skydive for Rhinos (it may be a little late to join in for this year, but find out now about becoming a fundraiser and doing one of next year's skydives.)
