Draught excluders are a cheap, low-tech way to help insulate your home and save energy this winter.
Making them can be a fun craft project too, especially if you get kids involved.
An excluder is basically a filled fabric tube, placed along a door base, on a windowsill or wherever there's a chilly draught.
The simplest kind is made from an old stocking or trouser leg filled with dried beans or gravel and sewn down at the ends; more ambitious models include cheerful fabric snakes, sausage dogs and reclining cats.
